Looks like I'll be kicking this off with a thread about the cars I own or have owned. I could make one about all the cars I've driven, but we'd be here for a while.
So lets start with my first, the mismatched red, Fiat Punto, or the Manechester Punto as it was known to many.
With a 1.2L engine, she was certainly no rocket. She's been all over the country, and even out of it. I could not have asked for a better first car, she was amazing.
She went to the Everfree Motorsport Meet in 2013, with Styges and his Celica, and she went to one of the Manechester meets, where she earned her name.
She went to Le Mans in 2013 too, where she was fitted with a front splitter, courtesy of Prodrive and Aston Martin
I said she was no rocket, but after paying tribute to the late Allan Simonsen, we took her for a speed run up the Mulsanne, breaking Fiat's top speed claim by over 20 miles per hour.
The next big trip she did was BUCK 2013, where she found herself chauffeuring the Tumblr artists around, and getting stuck in car parks. And then there was the EFM Mini-meet at the Mighty Car Mods meet at Land Rover's testing facility in Gaydon. We dressed her up as a Punto GT-R and parked her on a helipad, and surprisingly she got a lot of attention.
She was an amazing little car, and for £900, she was a bargain. She was like a child to me, and she fit in trolley bays too, conveniently.
But soon, it became time to sell up. Why? Because I bought something new. I could never replace her though, and one day, I'll find her and get her back.
So now I drive this, a 2010 RenaultSport Clio III. It's the facelifted RS200 model, the refined version of the RS197, producing 197BHP, or 200PS, hence the name. And of everything I've driven, this is probably the most fun I've ever had with a car. It's hard to put how it feels into words. so lets start with facts and figures; It has a naturally aspirated 2.0L inline 4, producing that 197BHP. That's around 170BHP per tonne. 0-60 takes around 6.7 seconds, putting it on par with things like the Golf GTI and Ford Focus ST, and the 141 MPH top speed is more than ample for the roads over here. 3 doors, 4 seats; certainly more than adequate for your average person. 31MPG is what it averages at the minute, and I don't drive this thing economically. It's hard to drive this car slowly, it's so much more at home at speed and when you're behind the wheel you can definitely tell.
I've had her 6 months now, and has my enjoyment faded? Has the appeal worn off? Not one bit! And I'm sure those of you that got a ride in her at the Silverstone trip this year saw that!
