I've been putting this off for a ridiculously long time, but here it is. A thread about my Ranger XLT. Or as I sometimes call her: "Midnight".
The one in the picture isn't mine, but it's exactly like it. Color and all. Pictures of my actual truck will be posted eventually.
She has a 3.0L V6, producing 152 HP, and a four speed automatic transmission with over drive.
She's been all the way up, down, and across California and parts of Southern Oregon. Multiple times. And despite the lack of four wheel drive, she's successfully been through mud, snow, ice, all three at once, and even a blizzard. On some of these trips, she's hauled a pair of dirt bikes. And soon, she may make the long, long journey to Austin, Texas, for the United States Grand Prix. I don't 100% recall the amount of miles she had before I got her, but I know it was less than 100,000. Now she has almost 145,000, and she's still going strong.
I never installed any upgrades, but I have a small hobby that involves decorating the interior. Usually whenever I go to a motorsport event, or anywhere that I've never been to before (regardless if I had driven there or not), I make sure to buy at least one collector pin, so that I can stick them onto the mat on the dashboard. Kind of like a set of medals. I never counted, but right now I have somewhere in the neighborhood of twenty plus pins, and I'm actually running out of room on the dash where you can see them without having to lift yourself from the seat.
Though I'd love to own a Muscle Car someday, I can never bring myself to trade Midnight in to help with that goal. In fact, I don't see myself selling her anytime soon for anything. Not only because of the sentimental value for being my first (working) truck and all the time spent driving her all over the state, but also because she has the right amount of practicality for pretty much anything I can think of. Her cargo bay is big enough to fit my Honda CRF, she's proven her worth off road, she gets decent fuel mileage, and her towing capacity is more than enough to haul another car. So if I ever get a stock car and a trailer, I'm already set. I've always had a soft spot for trucks of any kind, so that also helps.
